​Portrait of Alkistis

A video portrait that captures the female body in fragments and inspires the idea of a different perception of the body seen from an alternative perspective. The filming of the body in fragments and not as whole allows an approach and understanding that is based on the experience of the body throughout the person's maturity and life. Influenced by psychoanalytic theories of Jacques Lacan concerning the mirror stage and subjectivity, the video is an attempt to subvert the formative viewing of the body into a perpective that includes the experiential knowledge of self and other.
